My Heroes
My heroes don’t wear capes anymore.
They’re not the same as I idolized before.
Instead, they help those in need
With a shoulder or a prayer
And sometimes they bleed.
My heroes don’t wear masks anymore.
They don’t leap tall buildings or see-through doors.
My heroes now do extraordinary things.
In the name of the Lord,
In the name of the King.
My heroes don’t have unique cars or ropes.
They just have gentle hearts, helping hands and hopes.
They make a difference one person at a time.
They’re humble and brave,
Resourceful and kind.
My heroes visit nursing homes,
Jails, shelters, and where disaster roams.
In the streets, in the schools,
They’re all around
My heroes are there
Laying blessings down.
