Come and Gone

The charm of him

was like my favorite

ice-cream, sweet

but nutty, and

occasionally cold.

When we met at

the dance, and I thought

for sure, this was heaven.

He twirled and guided me

around the floor, swinging, swaying

to the glamorous music of another era.

Too quickly passed

our time together,

cold now is my heaven

without him, I no longer

dance. Images of him

provoke a melt of

ice-cream, the sweetness

gone from my days.

I hold his photograph,

embrace his charm,

evoke the glamorous notes of the past,

attempt to snare the memories.
