Within Four Walls
my page a day calendar
reminds me
of the one thousand places to see
before I die
stone faces from Easter
Island stare into
an off camera distance as
I stay within my office walls
comforted by my books
magnet collection
and many
photo albums
sealing in life
through stories and
images saved
and suspended in time
I will tear off another page
to travel to Argentina
a country I know from my dusty globe
and the
flamenco dancing magnet people
for now the outside world remains
a promise
a threat and
a statistic
I hope I don’t
succumb to
